Cosmetic dentistry is an important part of contemporary dentistry and it is going to be in even higher demand from our patients as time goes by. Laminate veneers have become a very popular choice for front teeth cosmetic restorations because of:

  1. Natural appearance of porcelain directly bonded to the tooth structure.
  2. Predictable adherence of porcelain bonded to enamel.
  3. Easily accomplished smooth transition from gingival edge of laminate veneer to natural shape of tooth structure that makes it predictably less irritant to gingival margin especially when the preparation is supragingival.
  4. Possibility to preserve more of the tooth structure than for full crown.

However, the preparation for laminate veneers makes it challenging for a dental technician to make very thin restoration and difficult for a dentist to place it on tooth without braking it. It also makes thin, translucent laminate veneers a very limited choice for cosmetic restoration to situations when the supporting tooth structure is not discolored, a tooth does not have substantial proximal restorations and it is not necessary to change the position of a tooth using laminate veneer.

In situations, when it is necessary to cut more tooth structure for example to reshape the contour of a tooth or to remove discolored tissue the choice is between a full crown and a reversed three quarter crown. Both choices for retention depend upon making the preparation with good mechanical interface instead of bonding.

AcuHand makes it possible to make two parallel groves on medial and distal surfaces of the tooth. The protuberances inside veneers allow placing them on teeth with such precision, that the patient will not accidentally loose the veneers while looking at them before you permanently attach them onto the teeth. The final placement of the veneers is not time consuming, predictable and precise. The grooves on the teeth provide excellent mechanical interface that guarantees years of predictable connection of the veneer to the tooth structure.

Making parallel groves with the AcuHand system allows achieving predictable laminate veneers not only on Maxillary teeth, but also on Mandibular teeth to give your patients the best in cosmetic dentistry.
